It is possible to remove an unfertilised egg and fertilise it in the laboratory. If one then takes this fertilised egg and separates the two cells after the first division, two new embryos will result which are genetically identical to each other. This is what occurs naturally when identical twins are born. To develop the embryos must be placed into a surrogate mother who has been prepared to receive a fertilised egg. Both embryos do not have to go to the same surrogate mother.
